Homework Tips
Your child will be bringing home four different types of homework assignments based on curriculum goals and class objectives: practice to review skills and review material learned in class, preparation to ready students to learn new concepts, extension to apply skills and materials learned to new research to successfully complete projects. Lastly , integration , to combine skills and materials in different areas to create new understanding. These Home Learning Opportunities will help to reinforce the material discussed in the classroom. These activities provide you with an opportunity to communicate with your child about these important issues. To increase the success of your child’s educational experience I am asking for your assistance in providing the following accommodations at home.
· Set aside 30 minutes to review homework with your child each night.
· Create an environment that promotes good study habits
· Encourage and motivate your child to sit and complete homework at the same time each night.
· Check planner each night
· Contact your child’ teacher if homework is taking an unusual amount of time.(The average allotted time for homework for 6th grade is 60 minutes, 7th grade, 70 minutes and 8th grade, 80 minutes
